Welcome to Week 1 of the Paradise Breeze Quilt Along, hosted by myself and the wonderful Patty Basemi! This is our second annual quilt along and we are so excited to have you sewing along with us.
Over the next four weeks, we’ll work our way through the Paradise Breeze quilt together, breaking the pattern down into manageable steps so that by the end of the quilt along, you’ll have a beautiful finished quilt!
There’s no signup required to join us. Simply purchase the Paradise Breeze PDF or paper pattern from my SHOP and sew along with us each week at your own pace.
How the Quilt Along Works
During this four-week quilt along, we’ll break the Paradise Breeze pattern into manageable, bite-sized tasks so you still have plenty of time for everything else going on in your life.
You are always welcome to sew ahead, or you can follow along with each week’s blog post and complete only that week’s assignment.
Each week, we’ll also be sharing helpful tips and tricks here on the blog to make sewing your Paradise Breeze quilt a little easier—and hopefully even more fun!
The weekly giveaways will also happen right here on the blog.
We wanted everyone to have the opportunity to participate in the giveaways. Each week, you’ll find instructions at the bottom of that week’s blog post explaining exactly how to enter. Winners will be randomly selected from the comments left on the corresponding blog post.

WEEK 1 — FABRIC PULL & CUTTING
Let’s jump right into our first assignment!
This week is all about choosing your fabrics and getting everything cut and ready to sew.
Remember, this quilt along is meant to be fun—not stressful. Work at your own pace, and if you’re excited and want to sew ahead, go for it!
Selecting Your Fabrics
For Paradise Breeze, we are combining prints from my Gulf Breeze collection and Patty’s Paradise Garden collection for Art Gallery Fabrics—which is exactly where the name Paradise Breeze came from!
We pulled the blues from my Gulf Breeze collection and paired them with the softer pinks from Patty’s Paradise Garden collection. I absolutely love how these two color stories work together, the blues give the quilt that fresh, coastal feel while Patty’s pinks add just the right amount of softness and warmth. It’s such a fun example of how fabrics from two completely different collections can come together and feel like they were always meant to be paired.
I absolutely love seeing our two collections together in one quilt. (If you didn't join in last year and you are curios which collections we combined for the the QAL you can check out this post).
You’ll find the complete Materials List in the Paradise Breeze pattern so you can start pulling fabrics from your stash or take the list with you when shopping.
The Paradise Breeze pattern is sold separately through my shop, or you can purchase a paper copy along with your quilt kit from participating quilt shops.

A Few Cutting Tips Before You Begin
Since our Week 1 assignment is all about cutting, here are a few things I always recommend before starting:
Read through the cutting instructions first. It’s tempting to immediately grab that rotary cutter, but reading through everything before making your first cut can save you from mistakes later.
Press your fabric before cutting. You don’t need to obsess over every little wrinkle, but starting with smooth fabric will help you get more accurate cuts.
Measure twice, cut once. Yes, you’ve heard it a million times but there’s a reason! Double-check the dimensions before making each cut, especially when cutting larger pieces.
Label as you go. The Paradise Breeze pattern includes cut-apart labels to help you keep all of your pieces organized as you cut. I highly recommend using them! With several similarly sized pieces in this quilt, labeling each group as you go will save you time, and a lot of second guessing,once we start piecing next week.
And most importantly, take your time! Accurate cutting now makes accurate piecing so much easier later.
Once your fabrics are selected, cut, and organized, you are officially ready for Week 2!
