Turquoise Trail Quilt

Turquoise Trail Quilt

The Turquoise Trail in New Mexico is a scenic byway that connects Albuquerque and Santa Fe, offering breathtaking views, historic sites, and charming towns rich in art and culture. The Turquoise Trail Quilt is inspired by the many family drives taken here, creating countless unforgettable memories.

Turquoise Trail is available as a PDF and paper pattern in my shop in three quilt sizes!

For the cover version I used prints from my new Art Gallery Fabrics Land of Enchantment collection. The backing is Native Essence in flannel from the collection. Art Gallery Fabrics offers an incredibly soft flannel.

Kits for the cover throw size are available at Crafty Moose.

This quilt block is a straightforward 16-patch block that incorporates a few quilting techniques, such as half-square triangles (HSTs) and the flip-and-stitch method. When these blocks are joined together, they form a stunning pattern that appears much more intricate than it actually is.

I decided to take on the quilting for this pattern myself using my home sewing machine. To enhance the design, I opted for a simple two-inch grid quilting pattern. This straightforward approach adds a beautiful texture to the quilt, allowing each individual block to truly stand out and shine. By quilting it this way, I was able to highlight the intricate details of the fabric and the careful piecing of the blocks, giving the quilt a clean, modern look that really emphasizes the overall pattern.

Whether you’re a beginner looking for a fun project or an experienced quilter eager to try something new, the Turquoise Trail quilt is perfect for you. With options for multiple sizes, this pattern allows you to create a quilt that fits your unique style and needs. I can’t wait to see what you’ll make with it!

Happy Sewing!
