Once you’ve made your 5.5” block, the sky’s the limit! Try experimenting with multiple blocks to create a cozy pillow, playful bag, eye-catching placemats, or even a quilt. Let your creativity soar!

Before you begin, make sure you’ve downloaded the pattern above.

To create your coaster, place your block on a piece of batting that’s at least 1-2” larger on all sides and spray baste it in place.

Flip it over and add a 7” x 7” backing fabric square, basting it to create a cozy quilt sandwich. Now you’re ready to start stitching!

Quilt the three layers together. I decided to quilt my block with cross-hatch straight lines. I marked the first line with a hera marker, then used the seam guide attached to my presser foot to create my lines about 1/2" apart.

Trim away the excess batting so that it aligns with the edge of the quilt block.

I added binding just like I would with any of my full-size quilts. I used the Art Gallery Fabrics 2.5 Edition binding from my Land of Enchantment collection. I love these bindings because you can choose which side of the fabric you want to use for a fun way to add some extra detail to your projects.
Attach the binding strip to the front of the quilt block.

Then flip the binding around to the back side of the block and either machine or hand stitch it down.
